Sun Tunnels - Natural Lighting

Go to Velux Sun TunnelsBuildings can now be lit in a more efficient manner, using low energy LED lighting or redirected natural light.

Many houses have bathrooms, hallways and other rooms where daylight only enters when you open the door. Dim and dark, these rooms are unwelcoming places until you turn on the light.

Now that has all changed - sun tunnels from Fakro and Velux mean the end of dim and dismal spaces in the home. Sun tunnels bring natural light into even the darkest and most isolated spaces through specially designed roof-to-ceiling tunnels.

Fakro

Fakro Sun Light Tunnel SLT

Fakro Sun Light Tunnel SLTFakro Sun Light Tunnel SLT (Schema)The SLT light tunnel is a completely new FAKRO product designed to bring ample natural light to every part of a property. It makes it possible to illuminate all rooms in the building, even those which cannot be fitted with roof windows or vertical windows. Dimly lit interiors such as bathrooms, dressing rooms, corridors, staircases or basements can be particularly uncomfortable to use. Thanks to the light tunnel, natural light can now be used throughout a building enhancing the user's comfort, and saving electricity.

The SLT light tunnel channels daylight which enters the light transmitting tube through a dome mounted onto the roof. The sun's rays are reflected off the walls of the flexible tube on to the light diffuser fitted into an internal ceiling. The diffuser spreads the light, evenly illuminating the whole interior of the room. The light tunnel may also be used at night by installing a light kit.

Features

  • light tunnel consists of the following parts: dome, flashing, light transmitting tube, prismatic and transparent diffuser and ceiling frame
  • flexible light transmitting tube allows easy fitting around any constructional obstacles therefore reducing the cost and time of installation
  • specially prepared flashings guarantee tightness and ease of fitting
  • light tunnels are suitable for roofs with pitches between 15 - 60 degrees or for flat roofs (available to order)
  • there are two types of flashings available: for flat and profiled roofing materials
  • light tunnels are covered by a seven-year warranty.

Sun Light Tunnel SRT

Fakro Sun Light Tunnel SRTFakro Sun Light Tunnel SRT (Schema)The SRT light tunnel's main role is the same as the SLT light tunnel - supplying the interior with the proper amount of natural light. The SRT light tunnel has a rigid light transmitting tube, made of aluminium and covered on its surface with a silver based and light reflective (in 98%) layer. The inside of the tube looks like a mirror. This type of light transmitting tube ensures that daylight is conveyed in large quantities to the interior.

The SRT light tunnel can be used in every kind of building, but because of its high effectiveness is particluarly recommended for installation in buildings where the daylight is transmitted long distances (eg 12 m). The SRT light tunnel can be also used at nights thanks to the light installation kit which performs the function of the lamp.

Features

  • light tunnel consists of the following parts: dome, flashing, ridged light transmitting tube, elbow, prismatic and transparent diffuser and ceiling frame
  • silver based and light reflective layer used to convey the light inside the building features the highest (98%) reflective coefficient
  • angle adjustable elbow (element of the installation kit), gives a possibility to adjust the pitch of tube inclination (between 0 and 65 degrees) and helps to avoid construction obstacles during installation
  • specially prepared flashings guarantee easy and water tight installation
  • suitable for roofs with pitches between 15 and 60 degrees or for flat roof coverings (available to order)
  • there are three types of flashings available; for flat, profiled and high profiled roof coverings.

Velux Sun TunnelsNatural light where you never thought it could reach

Many houses have bathrooms, hallways and other rooms where daylight only enters when you open the door. Dim and dark, these rooms are unwelcoming places until you turn on the light.

Now that has all changed - VELUX Sun tunnel signals the end of dim and dismal spaces in the home. VELUX Sun tunnel brings natural light into even the darkest and most isolated spaces through a specially designed tunnel from roof to ceiling.VELUX Sun tunnel comes from the same people who design the famous range of VELUX roof windows.

Owing to the dark-coloured, flat, square frame and flashing in polyurethane and its clear and robust glass, the VELUX Sun tunnel goes well with any roof, in the same style as VELUX roof windows.

The attractive and discreet ceiling diffuser unit with its acrylic pane melts into the ceiling, spreading a soft and restful light throughout the room. The tunnel between the roof and the diffuser is 35 cm in diameter and takes up a minimum of space in the loft.

Velux Sun Tunnel - before and afterVELUX Sun tunnel is recommended for installation in hallways, bathrooms and other rooms with no natural light and where conversion of the loft space above is not an option. It is not recommended for rooms such as living rooms, kitchens or bedrooms. In these spaces VELUX roof windows will always provide a superior result.

VELUX Sun tunnel is to all intents and purposes heat neutral, providing light without appreciable heat gain in summer and with negligible heat loss in winter.
